ST Position

Country Life is looking for a great Speech Language Pathologist to join our team.  We focus on providing care for children and adults who require respiratory support or intensive skilled nursing services.  Our Speech Therapists works with residents from all spectrum’s of life including babies, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.  We serve a diverse client group including people with developmental disabilities, hearing loss or deafness, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other significant medical complications.  Our residents have various levels of communication or swallowing difficulties.  Our Speech Therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate the most complete recovery possible.  Our Speech Therapist is part of the team plans and conducts weaning trials, treatments, medication changes and other interventions needed to progress toward tracheostomy decannulation if possible.  Our speech therapist plays a critical role in assessing and treating dysphagia (swallowing, drinking or eating difficulties).  Close coordination is made with our Registered Dietitian and Dietary Manager to ensure that our residents’ nutrition and hydration needs are met.  We partner with a mobile MBS team (Modified Barium Swallow Study) and also use diagnostic tools such as FEES (Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) to address swallow function and risk for aspiration.  Our Speech Therapist should be familiar with devices that enable people with tracheostomies to communicate such as a Passy-Muir speaking valve and various in-line speaking valves.  Knowledge of picture exchange card system (PECS) and other adaptive communication devices and strategies is required. This is a challenging but rewarding position for the right Speech Therapist.  Previous respiratory experience preferred but not required.  To schedule an interview call Julie Burnett at (801) 417-9400 or just drop in during the week for a tour.
